Animated gif technology can be used to create very simple banner advertisements or small animations on a website.

These animated gifs are larger than you would normally want for banners (usually trying to keep the files to around 10 to 30k). Because of their size, these animations are best viewed when played twice. The first viewing will load and cache the file, and the second will run at the speed intended.
